About this deal

Once you have spread the product onto a single piece of trim, immediately remove excess product using a Gtechniq Microfibre Cloth For heavily textured trim take the time to ensure all crevices are covered, and that all residue is also removed There are a lot of trim restorers available, some of which are temporary, and others being semi-permanent. In the case of Gtechniq C4, it is a semi-permanent trim restorer. How To Use Gtechniq C4 There are two situations to use C4 in. The first is on a brand new car where you want to protect the trim from premature fading. The second scenario is when the trim has started to fade and you would like to return it to its former glory.

Before starting ensure you have enough product for all intended trim surfaces. E.g For a Mini (30ml) you will require more product compared to a Golf (15ml) If you want as permanent of a solution as you can get then you’ll need to consider painting your plastic trim. This works great on non load bearing surfaces (trim you’ll step on or set things on) like wiper cowls, bumpers, wheel well arches, etc… What this means is that you now have a protective coating of unparalleled durability. Unlike many trim products on the market C4 is an exceptionally thin (circa 30nm) optically clear film which means that it does not add an unattractive gloss film to the surface instead it restores all but the most faded trim to an as new condition. You can expect approximately 2 years from a single application.Gtechniq claim that C4 will last up to 24 months before it starts to fade. However, mine has been on for 35 months now and it is now just starting to show signs of the coating starting to degrade. It’s important to note that this coating has been through several harsh winters, as well as sitting outside in direct sunlight in the summer and in an area that is subjected to a large amount of fallout from a nearby steel melting plant. This would have caused other trim coatings to degrade rapidly, but this is not the case with C4. Of course, the duration of the C4 is dependent on several things. Make sure you wash and dry the area:Ideally, you'd do a exterior plastic trim restore session after a car wash anyway, but make sure the plastic surface area you plan to apply your choice of trim restorer product to is thoroughly cleaned and dried before using any of these products. Instead, quality plastic restorers will be absorbed by the plastic and break down the oxidation that causes the lightened and ashy appearance. They will nourish the plastic and last a good amount of time, at least several months. They will also provide an even finish, like that of new plastic. Poorboys are a huge American brand in the car care industry who are making major strides in the UK market. Their products are renowned for being incredible value for money, extremely easy to use and always deliver a great result. We are huge fans of Poorboys here at BuyersGuides, they have a superb offering of products with some real gems such as their Natty’s Paste Wax. I do know how long other products last, though. I have settled on Autobright TNT Treatment as my preferred plastics enhancer and apply that every couple of weeks. I don't see a lot better from any other product and find that product so easy to use that it is almost a pleasure. You know what I'm saying. Obviously, I won't be using it any more on areas that have C4.

Once you’ve applied a plastic trim restorer, you would expect the finish to be long lasting. Although there is no truly permanent fix, many premium options can last up to 2 years or longer. Although the longer lasting restorers are more expensive, they will reduce the amount of applications required per year. Gtechniq C4 Permanent TrimRestorer is a relatively easy product to use but correct preparation and application is essential. Take a look in the resources section for a pdf and take a look at the youtube below showing you how to apply. For the application of C4 on these, I preferred to use a detailing swab as this was easier to get into the tighter spaces recessed into the bumper cover. For best results clean trim with a neat solution of W5 Citrus All Purpose Cleaner, and if required use a medium-stiff brush C4 uses a covalent or chemical bond to actually become an extension of the plastic molecule it's protecting.
