About this deal

Players then start the game by placing their colored penguins on ice floes containing only one fish until all penguins are on the board. I admit that it can be a bit fiddly trying to get the ice floe tiles from the centre of the board, however it’s easy to fix if you mess it up a little whilst taking your starting tile. That’s My FISH’ players take turns moving one of their penguins in a straight line collecting the tile (with all its fish) they started on. BGG has a number of different starting shapes for the ice floes/fish, all of which will change the game. The rules are simple and elegant, but once you start playing all sorts of emergent tactics make themselves clear.

The board is all wee hexagonal tiles, each with one to three fish on them, and every player has some lovely little coloured penguins. Can you supply your colony with enough food to win the day, or will your cunning opponent leave you drifting out at sea? While this board doesn’t eat away at itself from the outside, the new, inner empty spaces quickly serve as blockades to limit how far a penguin can travel. years after its original release, Next Move Games is making sure the penguins continue to get their fish. This isn't too bad if you play with people that are careful, but if you play with people that are careless, you can quickly have your map destroyed - and then you'll be left wondering what a "straight line" is.

This game is a lot of fun and while easy to play, even for kids, has a surprising amount of strategy. It’s not a game I’m busting out a lot on my phone or tablet and is something I have used for friends kids or as a quick intro game with my parents before we fire up a slightly more in depth and engaging app for them such as Ticket to Ride. You can play with up to 4 human players on one device or against up to 3 AI ranging from easy to hard. Like you said, the cutesy nature of the pieces and artwork is a disguise for a game that can be an amazing brain-burner.We bought it as me and my 8 year old enjoy Forbidden Island but it's a little bit on the hard side for her and I was hoping this would be a younger child's version. This does not look quite the same presentation as the one we already have sure sure it will be fine and the good game just the same. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.

However, I can see that more experienced players would probably not find this to their taste as it’s too quick and not as strategic as some may enjoy. But the instant he saw me doing that he moved his penguin one single tile space toward the fishpile. Each turn, the active player chooses one of the penguins that remains on the glacier, and he is allowed to move him as far as he wants in a straight line onto a new hexagonal piece; after which he collects the tile where the penguin started (and all of it's tasty fish). The hexagon that the penguin started from is then removed from play, becoming the player's property. Consult The Google for variations—my personal one is a large hex with the center hex/ice flow missing. After the game board has been built, each player chooses a colour and is assigned a number of penguins: four for a two-player game, three for a three-player game, or two for a four-player game. If you enjoy board games with friends but find it frustrating explaining things for half an hour before you get started, here's the game to go for. FFG are known for their bigger brand games such as Star Wars: X-Wing and LOTR: Journey to Middle-earth, so it’s not the kind of game you would expect them to publish.

is a surprisingly complex game when played with any number and deserves more attention from serious gamers. I picked up this game for my 2 sons as a gateway game into more advanced table top games, the game is simple which is what i wanted and helps with their planning skills. Easy to learn, this exciting board game is accessible for players of any experience level, from casual to competitive gamer. It's very addictive too, as games are fairly short and you always feel like it was your own fault for losing.
