Realizing that Springfield is in danger, all of them decide to save it, except for Homer, who refuses to help the people who tried to kill them. Mayor Quimby proves the effectiveness of said "idiot-proof" barriers by getting Cletus to try dumping a dead possum in the lake only to walk into the concrete barricades, when he could have just thrown the dead possum over the barrier. While the character animation is about the same as a normal episode from the later seasons, there are visual elements that have gotten an upgrade.
Homer realizes that his family is inside and tries to rescue them by knocking the truck over with a wrecking ball. The show is set in the fictional town of Springfield, and lampoons American culture, society, and television, as well as many aspects of the human condition.
