About this deal

I love your characters, I love your books and you are my favourite author ever, you are so nice and inspiring and I am so so very very thankful that you wrote this series, it brought me happiness in some of the saddest and hardest of moments! I went to Egypt with my family when I was 17, so [I was] only a couple years older than Daisy and Hazel are in this book. I have memories of being on a Nile cruise as a teenager, and came up with the bones of Death Sets Sail.”

I have always loved trying to find out who the murderer is! This time, I told myself that it was the last book and I had to make it count! So every now and again, I would run the thoughts through my head and just think of the possibilities, I really think that this plot was the most clever and intriguing of all 9 murder cases, it took me so long to work it out, even when I was so determined, I finally summed up the evidence and realised that Heppy was pretending to sleepwalk!I don't know if this series is getting too long for me or not complex enough, or I'm just not young enough, but I have been getting less interested, and at times, bored. The only thing I wish was more refreshing in this book would have been the setting, as the cabins and things are quite similar to First Class Murder. What hasn't changed, though, is how wonderful this series is. It got better with each book. Death Sets Sail is amazing and completely fabulous but truly it's the series as a whole that really, really touched me. Daisy coming out as gay was huge for me. Visiting places and plots I'd previously explored in crime fiction through a more feminist, anti-racist, queer friendly lens was huge for me. The intended audience is much younger than I am but I've always felt this was a series for me, because it takes the best of a genre I love so much and makes it so good and so comfortable for today.

The final novel in the number-one bestselling, award-winning Murder Most Unladylike series. Daisy Wells and Hazel Wong are in Egypt, where they are taking a cruise along the Nile. They are hoping to see some ancient temples and a mummy or two; what they get, instead, is murder. Also travelling on the SS Hatshepsut is a mysterious society called the Breath of Life: a group of genteel English ladies and gentlemen, who believe themselves to be reincarnations of the ancient pharaohs. Three days into the cruise their leader, Theodora Miller, is found dead in her cabin, stabbed during the night. It soon becomes clear to Daisy and Hazel that Theodora’s timid daughter Hephzibah, who is prone to sleepwalking, is being framed. And within the society, everyone has a reason to want Theodora dead… Daisy and Hazel leap into action and begin to investigate their most difficult case yet. But there is danger all around, and only one of the Detective Society will make it home alive… Death Sets Sail (Murder Most Unladylike Mysteries #9) by Robin Stevens – eBook Details When I read your marvellous books, I feel like I am Hazel, like I am Daisy, or beanie or Lavinia or George or Amina, I feel like I am a part of the book and that is such a special thing that you provided! Thank you Robin for giving me such an amazing series over the years, it’s has helped and inspired me so much, and I can’t believe it has to end! Me and my friend are currently 10 chapters in to writing our own murder mystery, and your books have made me realise that I want to be an author. Sorry for the VERY long comment! I just loved it too much! Detective Society Forever! ?❤️? I’m sorry this comment is so long: I wanted to make sure I had everything in it! I’m really looking forward to ‘MUA’ and whatever is to come. Congratulations on all of ‘Death Sets Sail’s’ success! At times, I felt the book was a little too melodramatic, but then again I think that adds to the whole light of it, as in it's not meant to be a too serious and gruesome crime, more a cosy crime in a way with schoolgirls (although the whole thing with them pretending to be real policewomen WAS ridiculous).Daisy Wells and Hazel Wong are in Egypt, where they are taking a cruise along the Nile. They are hoping to see some ancient temples and a mummy or two; what they get, instead, is murder.

P.S Robin Stevens I would just like to say a big thank you for making my 3 years of reading your books the best of my life! Your my favorite author and I was heartbroken when I heard this is The detective society’s last case… I’ve spent forty minutes trying to sort out my feelings for this book and am beginning to get creeped out by the silence of my house. I’m not always that great at expressing myself, but I hoped I managed to convey my absolute adoration for this book! It also won a 2015 Waterstones Children's Book Prize in the 5-12 Fiction category. Daisy and Hazel leap into action and begin to investigate their most difficult case yet. But there is danger all around, and only one of the Detective Society will make it home alive… Book Genre: Childrens, Crime, Fiction, Historical, Historical Fiction, LGBT, Middle Grade, Mystery, Mystery Thriller, Thriller, Young Adult I just finished my signed copy (it came when I was away for holidays and I read it as soon as I could) and I LOVED IT SO MUCH!!! This book was really very good and I like this new character-Amina❤️ She is a sweet girl and is very friendly😊 Other than the unmasking of the murderer, there were a ton of twists and turns which I liked a lot!!!❤️ I LOVED DEATH SETS SAIL! I don’t even know where to start. I thought the title and cover design/colours tied in perfectly with the book and the fact that it was the end. I thought the murder itself was very clever, and clearly a lot of planning went into it. Even though I was expecting Daisy’s ‘death’, I still felt really emotional because of Hazel’s grief and how the Detective Society would never be the same again. As soon as I saw the ‘vice’ bit crossed out at the start of the book, I just started going ‘oh no!’ because it just made me so sad that this series was coming to an end. I really enjoyed Daisy and Amina having their first kiss, Hazel’s agony in the lead up to kissing Alexander, and the unexpectedly perfect pairing of Lavinia and George! I have always found the books a very diverse series, and I think it’s great that you can include characters who are not white and British, and who are LGBT+, because even though there was less tolerance for it at the time of the books, it is a true reflection of real life, and people should be able to see themselves in books, and be assisted in their own life by characters like Hazel and Daisy. It was heartwarming to learn that Daisy was my really dead, and the Detective Society was not completely ending, just hitting pause!

I had finished DSS by the end of the day, I almost cried when Hazel had crossed out “vice” at the beginning, and it was a really emotional first chapter, The murder itself was absolutely thrilling, and I just couldn’t work it out! The solution was extraordinary, and I really think, that you captured Egypt in the 1930’s (I quite liked reading about the breath of life, although it did make me feel frustrated like Amina that they thought they knew everything about Ancient Egypt but they actually had no idea, they are really horrible people, but, to be honest, quite funny to read about)I knew straight away what had arrived, I ran faster than ever to the gate and sure enough there was my copy of Death Sets Sail! I started it straight away and got deeply caught in the plot, the romance, the twists and the magic of the detective society! As they investigate their most difficult case yet, it becomes clear to Daisy and Hazel that the victim’s daughter is being framed — but there’s danger all around, and only one of the Detective Society will make it home alive.
