The shadowy sons of Corax can use two unique Rites of War – Decapitation Strike and Liberation Force. Decapitation Strike After Isstvan he was known to have survived, helping to save the life of Corax himself in a desperate Thunderhawk rescue run.

It falls to the clandestine warriors of the Inquisition to lead the charge against these forces of sedition. Kill Team: Ashes of faith provides a lengthy narrative campaign focused on a group of these operatives and their attempt to purge a whole planet of a malignant Chaos Cult. The XIX participated in the Unification Wars, earning themselves a string of victories and a reputation for “cold, ruthless efficiency” , using small battle groups to strike fast, and decapitate the foe. When the Great Crusade began, the XIX found themselves operating frequently alongside the Luna Wolves – with Horus using the “blade of the XIX” to augment his own forces. This went so far as to cause some to say that “Horus treated the XIX more like a chapter of his own Legion than one with its own identity and destiny to forge.” This upgrade kit can be used to customise Legionaries with shoulder pads bearing the draconic heraldry of the Salamanders Legion. The kit includes 10 shoulder pads, each bearing a raised, sculpted icon that makes them simple to paint in the Legion’s signature colours, with a studded rim design appropriate to MKII ‘Crusade Armour’. Spread these components around your army and combine them with transfers to capture that signature XVIII Legion aesthetic, or outfit entire squads for an elite, unified look. Green Bits (screens, glowing things, etc.) These rules are deceptively simple, but have an enormous impact on army composition. It means, for example, that you cannot take certain Rites of War, but massively buffs some.

Seven of these are brand-new dual-build miniatures that allow you to build a rag-tag band of hyper-talented weirdos. When Corvus Corax finally united with his sons in the latter half of the Great Crusade, his feathers ruffled at the brutal tactics the Legion employed to force compliance. Their ruthlessness reminded him a little too much of the oppressors he had just defeated on Kiavahr – but Corax saw potential. Not much one for smiles himself, he found common ground in their serious (some would say dour) demeanour, and their reluctance to reveal themselves until the critical moment. Ultramarines Upgrade Sprues Overall these are not cheap, but I think they are sufficiently competitively priced to have a place in a Raven Guard army, but only as a single squad I would say, with a specific purpose. Should you need Intercessors then this is the box for you. Featuring enough models to form a complete Patrol, this box is probably the best starter for anyone who doesn’t have Space Marines but is interesting is trying them out. The Salamanders Upgrade Sprue includes some fun bits that are applicable to other chapters, including thunder hammers and torch bits. The Eradicators are also one of the more effective units in Space Marine forces, and with the Salamanders Super Doctrine the flamer Aggressors can be surprisingly terrifying. What’s Right for You?
