In 1997, significant changes were made to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry faculty. Severus Snape was named to be the new Headmaster. Snape was to be assisted by the Death Easters Alecto and Amycus Carrow, working in the capacity of Deputy Headmaster. Snape used his position to secretly protect students from Carrows. Meanwhile, Bellatrix Lestrange and Narcissa Malfoy came to Snape’s home at Spinner’s End. Narcissa told Snape under an unbreakable vow that her son, Draco, was chosen by Lord Voldemort for the difficult task of killing Dumbledore. Narcissa pleaded to Snape to help her son get the job done even if her son failed. Snape assured Narcissa of his loyalty to Lord Voldemort and agreed to help her son.
Severus Snape was born on 9th January 1960 to a Muggle, Tobia Snape, and a pure-blood witch, Eileen Prince. Snape and Prince had a dysfunctional and abusive relationship. Due to this dysfunctional relationship, Severus faced neglect as a child leading to loneliness. Severus’s loneliness as a child accounted for his demeanor, depression, sadness, bouts of rage, and bitterness as a person. As Tobia was an abusive father and hated magic, he was usually angry and paid no attention to his son. An account from Lily and Severus’s discussion about his father shows that Tobia hated pretty much everything in his life: On the other hand, Snape fed Mundungus Fletcher the idea of incorporating seven decoys of Harry so that when the Death Eaters arrive, they would not be able to decide which one is real. Snape’s attitude towards James became much more bitter because of his relationship with Lily. On one faithful day, James Potter, out of his arrogance, turned Snape upside down, hanging in the air so that his underpants were visible in front of everyone. Lily came to Snape’s resort, but Snape pointed Lily, out of his humiliation, as a Mudd-blood. Lily never forgave him for what he said, even after many apologies from Snape. Since student life, Snape has been into Dark magic and Dark Art. By the time Snape graduated from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, he was a master of Dark magic. Snape had to spy on Death Eaters when Lily was killed, so he mastered the Defense against Dark Arts.
Harry Potter's best friend, Ron, has a bit of a rough "spell" with his Harry Potter character wands, going through two during his time at Hogwarts. His first, a hand-me-down from his brother Charlie Weasley, was 12 inches long and was made of ash, with a unicorn hair core. Unfortunately for Ron, this wand was snapped in half during a run-in with the Whomping Willow. He attempted to fix it with Spello-Tape, but it was a lost cause, and he was forced to get a new one after multiple malfunctions caused him much grief and embarrassment. After it was revealed that Lily’s son, Harry Potter, was to defeat Lord Voldemort, Voldemort decided to kill James and Lily Potter. This put Snape in a terrible situation as he was the one who informed Lord Voldemort of the prophecy. And now, the love of his life was in danger due to his action. Snape pleaded to Lord Voldemort to spare Lily, to which he agreed, but Snape knew that Lord Voldemort’s words could not be trusted. As a child, Snape had a pale, round yet angular face. He had very oily and long hair that would jump around his face. He had a twitchy walk that resembled the walk of a spider. In 1980, he eavesdropped on a conversation between Sybil Trelawney and Albus Dumbledore. In that conversation, Trelawney prophesied the downfall of Lord Voldemort by a child who would be born at the end of July: During his career as the Headmaster, Snape regularly consulted the portraits of previous headmasters to seek guidance. Snape was constantly in touch with Dumbledore’s portrait, which told him about the secret location of the Sword of Gryffindor. During the second half of the 1995–1996 school year, Snape used his wand to perform Legilimency on Harry Potter as a means to teach him Occlumency, as well as to extract his own memories into the Hogwarts Pensieve beforehand. Snape was a neglectful child, and he did not get the attention a child was supposed to have. The only person that brought a smile over Snape’s face was Lily. Snape had been in love with her since their childhood, and Lily was the only one who brought pleasant memories to Snape.
