About this deal

Now add the coconut and hot water (image 3 above) and mix with a wooden spoon (or your hands) until you have a dense ball of dough (image 4 above) and all the ingredients are well combined. Being a child of the 90s, I remember Sunny D being a massive thing before the scandal surrounding the level of additives in it, overnight the popularity crashed despite a weak attempt at a revised formula. Yes, I had a weekend job in Tesco as a teenager, must have been around 1998-99, they were shifting absolute tonnes of the stuff in big bottles - everyone seemed to have coupons for it too, then overnight it stopped as you say when people started turning orange! True story... To help you work out what is what, are now little icons to help you see biscuit related themes. And now you can see at a glance which are the most contested subjects via this graph (requires Flash 6.0 plugin). Add the butter and sugar to the bowl of an electric stand mixer and beat on medium speed until smooth and creamy – about 3 minutes. You can also do this by hand if preferred. Take teaspoonsful of the dough and roll them into balls, place them into rows on the baking sheet, DO NOT FLATTEN THEM.

Make a white chocolate, milk chocolate, or dark chocolate cream cheese filling instead of using vanilla buttercream. Take small portions of the mixture and shape them into rough balls with your hands. Each should weigh approx. 25g. Place the dough balls on a plate and freeze for 1 hour. It was properly interesting as they went through how it was going to be launched as the next big thing in our country and how and why us kids should buy it, how many of us had tried it, where we could buy it. Start off by creaming the butter and sugar together. If you have a food processor or electric hand mixer, this will take seconds. If you don't, then you can just do it the old-fashioned way and use a wooden spoon. It will just take a lot longer. The end result should be a creamy mixture of butter and dissolved sugar (image 1 above). Seven: Spread a thin later of buttercream over the flat base of half of the biscuits and sandwich together with another oat biscuit (so both flat bottoms of the biscuits are touching the buttercream). Make Romany biscuits by adding 30g of cocoa powder to the Gypsy cream biscuit mixture. You can also add cocoa powder to the buttercream or use melted chocolate. I do recall that, often, I would pull the biscuits apart and enjoy the filling before devouring the biscuits. Of course, being an adult, I would never do that now :). The recipe

We live happilly in New Zealand and my favourite biscuit out here so far has to be the 'Kingston' by Arnotts - it sort of reminds me of a Gypsy Creams from years ago in Scotland, where i was born. Then, I decided to have it on my own. So I rolled up my sleeves and dug deep down my grandmother’s recipe book. When I was a kid, our home town had for some time a demographic that largely represented that of the UK. Long before Sunny Delight came to the UK (wiki tells me 1998), I'd hazard a guess ten years prior to that our local ITV station stared playing horrendous American ads for it and you could buy it locally.
