About this deal

A small aside here that as much loyalty as the other Andii show Anomander, he seems burdened by them. Endest thinks that absolute loyalty is surrender from both sides. Free will on one side and freedom from the other.

See, Cotillion is definitely the clearer of the two here, when he says: “Perhaps the most telling truth of old friendships is in how their dynamics never change.” He’s quite certain that he and Traveller are still friends. It is to these mines that an unconscious Harllo is being taken by an old man who found him. He gets money in return for finding a slave to work there. Sex for Solace: This is the reason Challice and Cutter begin sleeping together. She is disillusioned with her marriage and he is trying to get over being a stranger in his own home city, as well as being left behind by Apsalar. Duiker is met by the bard who knows that the historian struggles to write down the chain of dogs, he says that maybe expositional prose is not a good fit and offers to allow him to use his voice. There's a little meta exchange about contradictory tales, with the bard claiming that he makes no distinction between lies and truth. The scene ends with a mic drop moment- "Call me Fisher".Kadaspala is out to take revenge on Anomander Rake for the death of his sister. It clearly hasn't done any good for Kadaspala's sanity, never mind that Anomander Rake had nothing to do with Enesdia's death. Dracolich: While Hood's busy elsewhere, two undead dragons escape his realm. One of them decides to have a chat with High King Kallor, telling him about the Jaghut War on Death, while the other is Kagamandra Tulas Shorn, a Tiste Edur Soletaken Eleint and the original master of the Hounds of Shadow. Hood enlists Gaz, a Serial Killer, and his wife Thordy to cause enough bloodshed to enable him to physically materialise in Darujhistan. He's also been collecting the dead and rallying them into an army for quite some time. Raest, a Jaghut Tyrant (retired), Guardian of the Azath House in Darujhistan (First mentioned) [3] (

OK, now I’ve said to make sure you’re keeping the gods straight among the Crippled God, the Dying God, and the Redeemer. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t parallels/similarities among them. We’ve had many references to the CG’s pain, including in the scene with Baruk’s summoning, and here we have great pain/torment associated with the Dying God as well. Something to keep in mind. One of the pilgrims asks her if their god is displeased by the atrocities of Gradithan, and if so why doesnt he smite them himself. She replies that whatever disturbance he felt had the flavour of Kurald Galain. An ex merchant cries that he has surrendered everything to an indifferent god. Salind goes on a tangent that any faith that offers perfect answers to every quesion is not a true one, since its only purpose it to satisfy. She asks if it is the duty of the faith to keep peace. And that ultimately such a faith would be unable to accept unbelievers. Hence, what would be the difference between them and the Pannion. To this, one woman comments that none of these things can offer ease to her daughter who was raped by Gradithan. Salind is asked to speak to the Benighted on their behalf. She wonders how is any of this fair. Where is her compassion when she questions and makes demands of the Seerdomin. The epigraph is from the old Emperor. He does seem to have quite a few profound quotes attributed to him. There has to be some reason for bringing up Kellanved and Crust, right? Important: This is the discussion post for new readers. If you have ever attempted this book before, please don't talk about events from later chapters. Err on the side of caution and use spoiler tags if you're not sure. Head to the Spoilers MBotF discussion post if you are rereading. I also find Mallet’s observations about retirement to be very astute—in fact, I have seen family members experience the idea that everything that made them worthwhile is now over, and striving to find something that might help fill the gap. Save Your Deity: What Seerdomin ends up doing for the Redeemer. An interesting case, in that the Redeemer is not actually a god Seerdomin prays to. Itkovian, once the Shield Anvil of the Grey Swords of Elingarth (First mentioned) [26] (First appearance) [14]

This is a nicely efficient few lines to remind us of relationships and past events regarding Gruntle, Harllo, Stonny. Mammot, late High Priest and eminent scholar of Darujhistan, 'uncle' of Crokus Younghand (Mentioned only) [2] The pot thrower- is Tiserra, wife of Torvald Nom. Torvald steals from the lender to whom he owes money. Gareb's wife is in the bedroom and seems to think her husband is roleplaying with her, Torvald plays along and has sex with her. He then threatens her with a knife to find out the location of the treasure and steals the whole lot. He comes home to Tissera after all these years (Slavers. Ocean voyages. Toblakai, dhenrabi, torture and crucifixion, a sinking ship) and asks her to weave a ritual to hide the treasures from any magical probing. He asks and she confirms that she still loves him.

Fantasy Series We Recommend

Fingore: There is a serial killer roaming the city of Darujhistan whose weapon the guards cannot figure out. It turns out its Gaz, who has lost all of his fingers other than the thumbs in a fishing net accident and uses his hands as clubs.
