About this deal

Emollients are used to hydrate the skin. Their effects are short lived and they should be applied frequently. To be effective, adequate quantities of emollients should be prescribed. Suitable quantities to prescribe: see Emollient Prescribing Guidelines These recommended amounts are for twice daily application for an adult. To keep the skin well hydrated, leave-on emollients should be applied in adequate amounts to sufficiently cover dry and inflamed areas. 500g = 1 tub or pump dispenser. Quantities required will vary with the size of the patient, the severity and extent of skin dryness. For children approximately half this amount is suitable. The emollient should be applied as soon as you have patted your skin dry to make sure it's properly absorbed. Skin reactions Emollients are best applied after washing your hands, taking a bath or showering because this is when the skin most needs moisture. Soya Bean Oil 83% w/w, Comperlan (Oleic Acid Diethanolamide), Macrogol Lauryl Ether (Laureth-4), Perfume, Propylene Glycol, Butylated Hydroxytoluene. Emollients can be applied as often as you like to keep the skin well moisturised and in good condition. Ideally, this should be done at least 3 or 4 times a day.
