About this deal

The trouble codes are just that, though: Codes. Instead of a diagnosis like “loose gas cap,” you will see a string of letters and numbers that is incomprehensible without a reference. Trouble codes start with a letter and include four or five numbers, which together point to the specific subsystem and what problem it is experiencing. If you're looking for insights into how your vehicle is working or what's wrong under the hood, there's no better way than to plug in one of the best OBD-II scanners and read the results. I have a 1985 Corvette with a 1226870 ECM that I have connected to and logged with TunerPro RT (obd2 programming software) on the 160 baud channel. Has Toad been set up with logging capabilities for this vehicle?

Faults and explanations. The best OBD-II scanners not only tell you the faults your car has but also can explain the meaning so you can either fix it yourself or tell a mechanic.

When the CAN protocol was first introduced in vehicles during 2004/05, many Elm327 chipped diagnostic tools suffered from BUFFER FULL messages, as a result of the high speed CAN networks of the vehicle over running the small internal buffer of the Elm327 chip. However, if you’re more of a home mechanic and looking to tinker, you might wish to invest in something with a bit more functionality. The good news is that prices have been coming down: with a wider range of apps able to use your smartphone’s interface to control the device, the hardware units themselves are often smaller and much cheaper to produce. What should I avoid? enabled the "tear wipe" wiper function (adds an extra wipe at highway speed several seconds after it finishes wiping after a windshield wash)

I tend to hold the steering wheel relatively firmly - not a tight grip, but because many of the roads in the rural area where I live are patched, ridged, rutted an pot-holed, with alternating camber and an undulating surface, a firm grip is required and is normal for me.Also: in driving this loop, we could feel what I call missing on all of the uphill grades plus “the noise” appeared 3 times. That noise is between 11:37 or :38 and 11:42. The first instance is the longest, followed by 2 shorter occurrences. The missing was earlier in the file, and should be where acceleration was strong.

From these areas you can view details of your car, view and clear fault codes and if the engine is running view live data from many different sensors etc. The depth consists of online data, bi-directional controls, adaptive resets and learns, and system test. Some drivers disproportionately dislike the machine passing judgement on their driving decisions, particularly with regard to steering wheel control and indicator use. Thus, different drivers react differently to the ELK technology in the ID.3. What bi-directional controls is TOAD capable of performing and can these be performed on most GM, Dodge, Lexus and Jeep vehicles? I was surprised by this bi-directional statement as in an online review I read Toad did not have this capability.I have a 1985 Corvette with a 1226870 ECM that I have connected to and logged with TunerPro RT on the 160 baud channel. Has Toad been set up with logging capabilities for this vehicle? The ML629 has a wired connection and a robust design, and it’s easy to use, with soft buttons to navigate around the full-colour screen. The instructions aren’t the clearest but, with a bit of patience, the ML629 is fairly intuitive. Its library of DTCs isn’t just limited to ABS (braking) and SRS (airbags), but also covers the engine and the transmission. It’s also useful that Autel enables you to print off the information. Accuracy. A scanner is worthless if its results aren't accurate, because the only thing worse than no information is incorrect information. After you enter and register the code, the word “PRO” will appear on your image (outlined in red) OBDeleven – Connecting to your Car

I think I covered all of the basic features of OBDeleven, and now I can add some extra tips. I went over this already, but I will mention this again. You can use OBDeleven completely without paying for any credits. Use OBDeleven without credits Once the connection is established, user can diagnose and see the results in real time, see Vehicle info and view what car sensors are saying. For those who prefer a mobile device, I think BlueDriver is a good OBD scanner app that can connect to your smartphone via Bluetooth and provide accurate and reliable data. It can also generate repair reports and suggest fixes. In the software, there appears to be only a very limited default list of parameters which can be displayed/graphed/recorded. No extra PIDs are revealed after connecting to the vehicle. We plugged the readers into a selection of cars of different ages, including a 2008 Mazda 2 and 2014 Peugeot 208 with known faults that were generating a warning light. Wireless readers were connected via Bluetooth to an iPhone using the app suggested by the device’s instructions. Verdict

Sub-Boards

Initially you will only see the standard app features. If you bought pro you need to activate this on your account. To do this go to the menus in the top left corner of the app, select settings, and in the Theme menu at the top toggle the pro switch to the right. Once you have done that you will be prompted to input the pro activation code which came with the dongle. One nice feature I do like with the OBDeleven is the ability to play around with the App offline without the dongle plugged into the vehicle. This is something the VCDS PC software can’t do. So sitting at your desk, you can still browse through the features in the App (obviously you can’t scan or see real time data) but at least you can get a feel for how it works without having to be connected to the vehicle. Any data collected during a live scan will be stored and displayed off line. You will find your OBD port underneath the steering wheel. Specifically beneath the coin holder cubby on the right-hand side. Switch the car ignition on (no need to start the engine) and plug the dongle in.
