About this deal

Ogryns are said to be even less intelligent than some Orks. However, the truth is that their intellects did not actually atrophy, but became much more focused on matters such as survival. The genes that enable psychic abilities are unknown among Ogryn as a result. Some rules allow you to re-roll a dice roll, which means you get to roll some or all of the dice again. If a rule allows you to re-roll a dice roll that was made by adding several dice together (2D6, 3D6 etc.) then, unless otherwise stated, you must re-roll all of those dice again. If a rule allows you to re-roll specific dice results, only those dice can be re-rolled. If a rule allows you to re-roll a specific dice result, but the result is obtained by halving a D6 (such as when rolling a D3), you use the value of the halved roll to determine if it can be re-rolled, not the value of the original D6. For example, if a rule states to re-roll results of 1, and you roll a D3, you would re-roll if the D6 rolled a 1 or a 2 (which is then halved to get a D3 value of a 1). Bullgryns are your melee boys. Bullgryns can be equipped with either a Bullgryn Maul or a Grenadier Gauntlet. So, in theory, they can be shooting too because the Grenadier Gauntlet is a shooting weapon that does D6 shots, S4, Damage 1 with a range of 12″. I have already done Cadian Snipers vs Ratlings and to some extent, the Leman Russ Tactics article fits this series too. The power maul Bullgryns got more armor and a ton of grenades. Again, adding some funny food related bits might give the boys some much needed Ogreishness.

Some weapons have ‘Blast’ listed in their profile’s abilities. These are referred to as Blast weapons. In addition to the normal rules, the following rules apply to Blast weapons: Under the new Morale Phase if you lose one Bullgryn (and it will not be the Bone ‘ead because you decide which one dies) then your remaining Bullgryns will still be Leadership 8. If you roll a 6 then you cannot lose another one as the maximum you can roll is 7. Even if you lose two Bullgryns and the Bone ‘ead remains and you roll a 6 this adds up to 8 under the new rules. This 8 equals your Leadership so you’re safe again from taking additional casualties from failing a morale test. Those of us who have been with the Guard for a while are probably going to feel right at home again with the Demolisher being the good one and the Vanquisher being the hilariously bad one . Don’t worry though, the Vanquisher will reclaim its rightful place in the most important format: https://www.goonhammer.com/welcome-to-blunderdome/ . Chucat: Critical Hit and Hidden Hunter are basically in a cage match for the best tactic in Kill Team. You want to kill things, Critical Hit is always going to help with that. The tact The Ogryns have a 5+ save, the same as a Guardsmen, so Bolter or Heavy Bolter with any volume will cut them down easily. They have no shield to take either. Apply a basecoat to the armor and shields using a suitable color. For the armored areas, consider Leadbelcher or Iron Warriors as a base. For the shields, Macragge Blue or Kantor Blue can provide a solid foundation. Such Ogryns usually are truly colossal creatures, whose bulging muscles and gigantic stature allow them to manipulate their oversized weapons as effortlessly as a normal man might wield a Lasgun while relying on their immense bulk to compensate for any recoil. It is worth saying that because the Grenadier Gauntlet is an Assault weapon you can Advance and fire. You’ll be hitting on 5+ but you’ll have moved an extra D6″– closing the gap on your enemy and mitigating that 12″ range as soon as possible. Bullgryn Maul & Slabshield / Bullgryn Maul & Brute Shield

It was suggested via the new chat feature on this blog that I should consider doing some sort of Trade-Off Series. My Cadian Snipers vs Ratlings article is of this style. And so here we are. For my first article, we will look at Bullgryns vs Ogryns.Damage reduction is always a nice-to-have floating around, and the fact that it’s also eligible to be used on any Astra Militarum Vehicle means getting random non-Baneblade Super-heavies functioning in your list might be less of a burden. Datasheets This disposition is based around doing a lot of damage, as well as getting some nice free CP from getting high-value frags. Tactics

This month’s White Dwarf features new missions and a set of new rules for Kill Team, called Dispositions. Dispositions basically function as a subfaction on top of the already existing subfactions and give you a set of 3 Tactics to play with. Most of them are really good, and add a level of flavorful customization to teams that we wish was in the core rulebook, since they’re a much better way of customizing your non-specialists than the level-based boosts in the book’s Campaigns section. The broad downside is that the bonuses are all Tactic-based, and so that means these will be competing for already scarce CP resources. Still, they go a long way toward supporting a particular strategy and team flavor, and can help make non-specialist team members more useful. I will probably go with two 4 melee Bullgryn squads with 2 of each shield type and put them in the valkyries. After years of collecting, buying and selling, building and painting, we realised that we had amassed a small library of Build Instructions, Assembly Instructions and User Guides for various Games Workshop products. Given the number of wounds, light vehicles can have you may not pop it with one round of fighting. But you sure can put 6 or so Wounds on it. Let’s have a little look at fine-tuning your Bullgryns to get the most out of them. I have the Imperium 2 Index – so I’ve scanned and searched for enhancements and buffs that effect The following keywords:

Wiping the unit is ideal as it enables you a 3″ consolidation move away from where you were and into the next enemy unit. Many tend to have little understanding of ranged warfare, either having forgone much of the training required to further their combat abilities or simply being too dense to comprehend such tactics. This makes them generally savage even by Ogryn standards, while their size and feral aspect serves only to magnify their combat effectiveness. Mania – Use at the end of a fight phase in which a model from your kill team took an enemy model out of action. If this model is within 1” of an enemy, it can fight again. Kill a model, consolidate really far, and then pop this to kill another model. If you’re somehow able to get 3CP and haven’t used any yet, but you’re in a moshpit against 3 or 4 models with your one, then use this in conjunction with Fury of Khorne to have the same model fight 3 times in a single turn. Like Bloodlust, it’s another really solid tactic for a model that can take advantage of it. A- The Verdict:

Some simply enjoy crushing enemy skulls to powder or tearing off limbs with their bare hands, while others may rely on their volatile temperament, flying off into a killing rage at the mere mention of their hated enemy. Some are so stupid they cannot truly comprehend the nature of their situation, delighting in what they consider an enjoyable game as they revel in the shouts of encouragement and support from their comrades. Bullgryns are essentially the only reliable close combat option when it comes to the armies of the Astra Militarum. These units come as groups of three, but you can and probably should pay for more. You have the option to have units of up to nine of these bad boys running round. This multi-part plastic kit allows you to construct three Bullgryns, each embodying a massive, armored auxiliary. Equipped with heavy shields and formidable combat weapons, these Bullgryns are ready to engage in the heat of battle. Choose to arm each Bullgryn with either an explosive grenadier gauntlet or a formidable maul, and select between a towering slabshield for steadfast defense or a more agile brute shield for increased maneuverability. Immerse yourself in the customizability of this kit, featuring a diverse range of accessories and interchangeable components. Take advantage of four distinctive masked or bearded heads, three unique shield designs for each type, and an assortment of spare ammo, frag bombs, pouches, and flasks. Additionally, you’ll find a special cybernetic head, designed specifically for a Bone ‘ead squad leader. Bullgryns Datasheets What’s in the Bullgryns box

And in terms of gameplay, this is how the Guard fight on the books, I’ve had games where one squad moves up and is cut down, it’s the. Replaced next turn by another squad using Move Move Move. Repeat. Guardsman Leisse explaining the poor state of an Ogryn Specialist's firearm to the Regimental Quartermaster I will concede that Terminators are elite infantry, but their 2+ save just makes them too tough for the AP-1 that the Bullgryns have in their Power Mauls. Liberal application of oversized purity seals gives a sense of size to the models and adds some Ordo Hereticus flair to the models. Basing across all models shares the idea of a dark, muddy area with snow patches on the ground and small dark shrubs growing sporadically. With that in mind, there is a time and a place for some of these options. In some games and scenarios, they’ll just die. Cyclops
