About this deal

Both of these solutions should also help to clear limescale from the hot-water pipes and boiler. Of course, you might need to run the taps for a minute or two with fresh water after cleaning, to get rid of any vinegar residue. Sarson’s-flavoured tea, anyone? Grey waste These systems tend to be hidden away under a caravan sofa and look like a compact barrel or box, with pipes and wires going in and out. The same applies if you have a direct connection as you could turn it off at the tap when you are out so difference. I doubt if the regulator on the Whale would fail and never heard of it happening. Never happened with our Truma either. However as you say up to each one to decide on the risk, but what fun is life if you are not prepared to take a risk? LOL! Alde wet systems are rather different. Where Truma and Whale use hot air to heat the vehicle, Alde uses a domestic-style radiator set-up – pumping hot liquid around the caravan to radiator panels that are hidden behind the furniture. Control panel for Alde heating system These systems are compact and relatively lightweight, and can be powered by gas, mains electricity, or a combination of the two. Truma’s Combi 4E system provides up to 4KW of power

To avoid it stagnating, water should not be left in any water tank for more than two or three days if it’s not being circulated, because there’s the potential for microbes to build up. Most will be filled from an external water-carrier through a second port on the side of the caravan. Others are like some motorhomes, and can be filled with a hosepipe, through a filler cap on the side of the vehicle. External water supply connection ports on the caravan sidewall The UK regulations allow that to be between 40 and 80 psi, but the caravans items such as the Alde are rated to 28 psi, so every chance of blowing something and ensuring an uncontrolled leak. The screw caps are handily placed and I found the hose with a push on tap connector supplied, very useful. This is a simple procedure – fill the tank or plug in your water source (a water-carrier or waterline), then, with each hot-water tap open in turn (or mixer taps switched to the hot setting), turn on the water pump. The heater holds up to 15 litres of water, so might take a minute or so to fill. The OP specifically mentions low pressure with 'mains water running into the caravan'. Without clarity as to what that means or how it is achieved it is difficult to answer. You seem to have discounted all but an aquaroll with a submersible pump. So, you base your decision on how perfectly the pressure reducer will always operate, and on never getting anything from the water supply or your hose into the valve. As the pump and pipe are placed into the Aquaroll or alternative water container, the pipe can become kinked and bent. The reason this can often happen is because of the height of the water pump inlet on the caravan.

A smart fix for this, devised by DIY guru Rod Farrendon, makes use of a product called Pipesnaps. These are rigid, split plastic tubes, designed to be clipped on to household pipes for decorative purposes. There are two main types of water pumps. Submersibles, which actually go into your Aquaroll water container, and onboard diaphragm water pumps. Submersible Water PumpsSome luxury caravans have an onboard water tank, which needs to be filled with clean water. Depending on the size of the vehicle, these vary from around 40 litres upwards. To fix this issue, you obviously need to remove the kink in the water pump pipe. However, that can be easier said than done.
