It’s easy to customize the shelf height for your little critter. Have an older chinchilla? Bring the shelf lower so that the ramp to get to it is less of an angle. And the plastic inserts make them easier to clean. It gives you an additional level, so if you have the double plus this, you would get three levels in all. My Chinchilla loves his new mansion! This cage gives him a lot of space to run around, explore, jump, and find new nooks to hid out in. The double doors and removable trays make cleaning the cage really easy. The cage is very sturdy and durable and I am not worried about any of the bars breaking from the constant jostling of my chins metal flying saucer attached to the cage, which was starting to wear and break down the bars in his previous cage ( Additionally, each of my cages has at least two water bottles (never have less than two, in case one gets jammed) and 1-2 water bowls attached to the sides.
