About this deal

While Porto produced in Portugal is strictly regulated by the Instituto do Vinho do Porto, many wines in the U.

This, combined with the skill of the Master Blender, has resulted in Graham's mastering the art of making an outstanding 30 year old tawny port. It is essential to strike the correct balance between the delicacy and elegance which results from prolonged cask ageing while retaining the fruit quality which lends this old Tawny its structure and longevity. A magnificent nose, showing an array of dried fruits which lead onto the palate which is mature and concentrated, with full, honeyed fruit. This is a 30 year tawny and 30 refers to the designated age, as it is a blend of more than one year the vintage does not appear on the bottle. All of Graham’s tawny ports have their own individual characteristics, the complex flavours and aromas that pervade each of these unique wines have been developed through selecting only our top quality wines from Graham’s four spectacular Quinta’s in the Douro Valley to age in seasoned oak casks in our 1890 Lodge in Vila Nova de Gaia.

The wine's contact with the wood of the cask works hand-in-hand with time to create one of life's greatest wines. The palate is a gamut of flavours, ranging from delicate fruit and raisins to burnt toffee and chocolate. Instead, it is the result of blending ""ruby"" and ""white"" ports, or possibly the addition of caramel colouring.

Since they are aged in barrels for only a short time, they retain their dark ruby colour and fresh fruit flavours. In contrast to vintage port's short time in barrel, LBV port is aged between four to six years in barrel, to mature it more quickly. Yalumba has released a 50 year old tawny and Hardy's Whiskers Blake, Rosemount's Old Benson and Galway Pipe are also made in the traditional manner. Excellent - please note that 30 years is an average age and so the vintage does not appear on the bottle .The quality of Graham’s Port relies on the finest grapes, primarily sourced from five iconic quintas in the Douro Valley: Quinta dos Malvedos, Quinta do Tua, Quinta das Lages and two others, Quinta da Vila Velha and Quinta do Vale de Malhadas, which are privately owned by members of the Symington family. This port pairs perfectly with strong cheeses, nuts, and desserts such as crème brûlée, chocolate cake, and fruit tarts.

Aged tawny port is a blend of several vintages, with the average years ""in wood"" stated on the label: 10, 15, 20, and 30 years are common. This fortification method is still followed here, when wines are exported to other countries like England from Oporto.

While it is by far the most renowned type of port, from a volume and revenue standpoint vintage port actually makes up a small percentage of the production of a typical port house. They are vintage in the sense that they come from the produce of a specific year, but in most other respects are the opposite. Since then Malvedos has been recognized as one of the Douro ValleyÂ's finest Â'river Quintas,Â' and the quality of the wines from the vineyard continues to be fundamental to GrahamÂ's reputation as a leading producer of quite exceptional Vintage Port. One of the unique winemaking techniques followed here is the addition of the grape spirit during the fermentation of the grapes to add to the sweetness and longevity of the wines.
