About this deal

The cross-linking polymer formulated to provide the tough non-rubbery barrier tenaciously grips the metal surface forming an ideal base for further coatings, paints or anticorrosion wax. Bilt Hamber hydrate 80 provides powerful protection to rusted steel surfaces, its electrochemical function stabilises existing corrosion by converting the iron oxides into a protective metal complex, it also combines with surface moisture and oxygen depriving the corrosion process of the conditions it requires. That reply didn't really tell me anything particularly useful, and for all I know it could just be them trying to make more sales (Gas-Mac isn't a coating, it's a rust inhibiting additive, so it would be an ongoing additional cost/step in using this heater.

It's a thick lump of metal, but it was there most of the day, so I'm assuming it's got to be sub 300'C? Tested extensively by us in development stages, our products come out on top in testing and reviews, across the range. If you are talking about filling small pitted rust marks you might find that epoxy, then a coat of high build primer is sufficient.

Importantly for long-term protection Hydrate-80 doesn’t contain chlorine which is known to transform into corrosive hydrochloric acid in rust converter applications causing under-film blistering and destruction of paint finishes or other coating products.

If I ever get my project near completion I will be using epoxy primer as I have read so many positive endorsements of it. As hydrate 80 will activate on clean steel the affected area should be cleaned beyond the visibly corroded surface, this will ensure complete treatment. However, like with anything, you need to make sure it's cleaned rust and there is nothing lose left on the surface. This quick and easy to use liquid ,made lite work of some really rusty rotten rear metal drainage plugs on the underbelly of my car. Dynax-s50 has been proven in long-term testing – most recently by the Material Science Department at Herefordshire University – to substantially beat other waxes in impartial and side-by-side testing. hydrate 80 has been used to arrest and prevent corrosion in diverse applications - from massive marine installations to classic and historic vehicle restoration hydrate 80 provides dependable long-term protection. So I decided a little light project might help me snap out of it, and I bought an old and abused Aladdin Blue Flame paraffin heater. When it says it can go over rust, are we talking clean metal, with light pitting which may hold rust, or rubbed down, but visibly rusty metal?

If I paint it onto bare metal, but panels you can see, can fillers and paint to over the top of it trouble free?Sounds like that should be as good a prep base for it as any, though a wipe down with Surfex HD after going at it with brush as a belt and braces step wouldn't hurt.
