The group's signature song – played over five million times on US radio – was one of many riches on their eagerly anticipated 1975 album, The Original Soundtrack. The collection, 10 of 10cc, celebrates the wonderful work produced by Hipgnosis and StormStudios for 10cc, from the early days and throughout their career. This album reveals a group at the top of their game, confident with their material, willing to take risks and totally assured in their use of the studio as an instrument. Many of the tracks feature highs that are recorded with a great deal of clarity which I found quite pleasant. Ps: the two bonus tracks on this CD re-issue: channel swimmer and good news,plus informative sleevenotes - are a welcome inclusion.

At their peak, it always seemed to me like they were so bursting with good original song ideas and ways to express them that they somehow couldn't last as a brilliant foursome for very much longer. Been a massive 10cc fan ever since those lazy endless summer days in the 70's cruising round Essex with my mates.

While I doubt The Original Soundtrack is going to be everyone's cup of tea, I found it to be fun and weirdly enjoyable. Also containing the hit single Life Is A Minestrone, the album opens with the influential nine-minute mini-opera, Un Nuit A Paris, demonstrating how far pop music had travelled in a short space of time. Depending on where you live, the time it may take for your exchanged product to reach you, may vary. I am so glad that Gouldman and Stewart managed to persuade their colleagues to trim their would-be pretentious operate into this form. They were split in 2 camps for much of the time - Kevin Godley worked very well with Lol Creme and Graham Gouldman worked equally as well with Eric Stewart.Hipgnosis turned to Humphrey Ocean (now an acclaimed Royal Academician but then not long out of art school) to make something more extraordinary of it than a simple photograph. The Original Soundtrack includes the singles " Life Is a Minestrone", and " I'm Not in Love", the band's most popular song.
