This highly edible story of a girl who wants to save the planet, with beautiful pictures by Emily Gravett, is most timely and will go down well with fans of Greta Thunberg . For Evie being free to be herself, to have the talents and skills she has and be the person she wants to be, even if her Dad is worried that the world will be cruel to her is handled quite nicely, I felt. One of my favourite parts of the book is when Evie is helping out at the Zoo and a boy falls in the lion enclosure. How this book made me feel: I really wanted to try out Matt Haig’s writing when it comes to children’s books, that was the main reason why I was excited to read this book.Das Ende spitzt sich dafür sehr dramatisch zu und ist schon etwas heftig für ein Kinderbuch ab 9 Jahren. I am a bit torn about this generally -- there's a lot of stuff about mean 12 year old girls who love the internet as being vapid mean girls both in this and in middle grades fiction generally, and people can like makeup and still be kind empathetic people!The fictional world she would most like to live in is the Land of Roar and the character she would most like to be is Evie from the book Evie and the Animals.
