About this deal

It offers a chilling trip into the bleak world of a devastated couple - He (Willem Dafoe, Shadow of the Vampire) and She (Charlotte Gainsbourg, The Science of Sleep) - where abuse, misery and self-humiliation are examined in a shockingly disturbing fashion. Commentary - an audio commentary with Professor Murray Smith from University of Kent in the United Kingdom, and directors Lars von Trier.

Because, honestly, how could you not appreciate a movie that was described by gonzo filmmaker John Waters with the following: "If Ingmar Bergman had committed suicide, gone to hell, and come back to earth to direct an exploitation/art film for drive-ins, this is the movie he would have made. For items that are dispatched using our standard service, we ask that you wait 14 days from the date of dispatch before reporting any items as undelivered. The movie starts out strong: Willem Dafoe and Charlotte Gainsbourg play a man and woman (identified only as He and She in press materials) who, in the opening sequence, are seen passionately making love. The test film is mentioned again, but then we get to see CGI breakdowns for a number of shots in the film, including the actual “falling acorn” scene, along with the fox sequence.

No obstante hay un par de sorpresas que me decepcionaron: 1) A pesar de incluir una pista de audio en versión original, no incluye subtítulos en inglés. Lars von Trier shook up the film world when he premiered Antichrist at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival.

Zwei hervorragende Darsteller: William Dafoe und Charlotte Gainsbourg, die den Stoff mit unglaublichem Tiefgang und Engagement umgesetzt haben. Eden – Production Design" (HD, 5:12) isn't the most interesting bit in this section of the disc, but it does offer a hilarious detail – that the cabin they had built had to be left alone because some sort of rare, indigenous bird had chosen to nest near it.Internal List of Criterion Titles List of Licensors Calendar Blu-ray and DVD Region Map External Fan Sites The Criterion Cast Criterion Contraption Specialty Labels The Criterion Collection Arrow (UK) Arrow (US) Indicator Masters of Cinema British Film Institute (BFI) Second Run Anti-Worlds Shout Factory! Generally speaking, this is a very informative, well conducted, and perhaps also a bit controversial conversation that deconstructs the story of Antichrist, its unorthodox message, etc. Antichrist' is a hard movie to watch, an even harder movie to love, but one that is a hell of a lot of fun to talk about. As unspeakably horrific as much of Antichrist is, the film occasionally walks the line between the scary and the wacky. Postproduction and color timing were done using Assimilate's SCRATCH and Nucoda's Film Master systems.

The prominent colors, such as the variety of greens and grays for instance, are once again remarkably cool, at times even cold. encoded with MPEG-4 AVC and ranted a 1080i50 transfer, Lars Von Trier's Antichrist arrives on Blu-ray courtesy of British distributors Artificial Eye. Certain items can take longer to source than the estimated week, particularly during busy trading periods and may take longer to arrive at our warehouse. The film’s sound design is surprisingly complicated, and very subtle (for the most part at least—there’s a few great jumps thanks to the use of a sound effect that von Trier refers to as the “Polish Sound” in the commentary track) and Criterion’s transfer presents it about as perfectly as I could imagine.

Willem Dafoe and Charlotte Gainsbourg play a grieving couple retreat to Eden , their isolated cabin in the woods, where they hope to repair their broken hearts and troubled marriage. For more about Antichrist and the Antichrist Blu-ray release, see Antichrist Blu-ray Review published by Dr. The film was originally shown at 25fps and other Blu-ray releases from other regions presented the film in 1080i/50hz. Amongst the special features on the disc is an audio commentary in English with director Lars von Trier and Professor Murray Smith from University of Kent; an interview with Willem Dafoe; an informative conversation with French actress Charlotte Gainsbourg; footage from the Cannes Film Festival; and much more. Presented in four chapters with a prologue and epilogue, the film charts the often violent and disturbing course of the couple's anguish as they immerse themselves in nature and act out their deep suffering in a sequence of increasingly bizarre and brutal rituals.

The 'tutters' (you know the type, the folk who turn their noses up at Roy Chubby Brown jokes) are, of course, having a field day with this movie because they're undoubtedly unable to sit and view this movie, take in all the horrific images and hard to deal with subjects then consciously and unaffectedly ask the question 'why? The film’s sound effects fill out the entire environment with some incredibly subtle sounds moving their way naturally around the viewer between all five speakers.

Also included is "Charlotte Gainsbourg at Cannes" (HD, 6:18) and "Willem Dafoe at Cannes" (HD, 8:05), two standard interviews about the reaction to 'Antichrist' at Cannes and their experiences at the festival.
