About this deal

I honestly don’t doubt that Driscoll ever did anyone a good turn, the problem for me was that he reserved the right to do a bad one as part of selling someone something.

The Parliament was pale in comparison, not as viscous, kinda runny actually, a harsher bite and just a disappointment. It is aged for 18 years exclusively in Spanish oloroso sherry casks, and bottled at 46% ABV without chill-filtration or added coloring. I do not think I get as much vanilla and sugar when I add water but heavy raising without the sugar is the theme.

I love this bottle and I always love to share it with friends, especially my friends who "don't like scotch". Sherry sweetness, dark fruit leather, brown sugar, x-mas spice, citrus peels and some bits of orchard fruit. Taste: Thick mouthfeel with big notes of coffee and mocha, but also dark chocolate, some nutmeg and a pinch of black pepper. About The DistilleryFounded byJames Allardes in 1826, GlenDronach distillery, after trading hands several times, was sold by Pernod Ricard to the Benriach Distillery Company in 2008.It would have good qualities about it, but may be lacking in less detrimental aspects such as complexity. Remarkable flavours of stewed fruits and all-spice marry together with classic aged Oloroso sherry and toasted walnut bread combined with chocolate Conclusion Tremendously complex and long. The impact on the palate is rich and powerful yet smooth and creamy with a long aftertaste of spice and dark chocolate. The slightly off (minor) back-taste seems to have gone and this is showing tons of deep fruit and malty warmth.

I like a sherry finish on an Islay for example, but in this one it's far more prominent, dominant in fact! I’m not sure when Dave became just a fellow consumer, deciding who to give “our” money to, instead of a salesman, but I wonder if Driscoll steered anyone else away from Allardice, or just certain people that he was already selling a dolly full of booze to?

The colour along with the taste is much richer and superior, however the finish is nowhere near as smooth and makes it far less pleasing to drink overall. My ex-wife and I (married at the time) went out for a nice dinner and I decided to treat myself with something I’d never had and when I looked at the menu this stuck out since I’d had the 12 and the 15.The Oloroso sherry flavours of toasted nuts, dried fruits, walnut skins, orange oil and - amazingly - even red fruits are so beautifully balanced that we can sit and enjoy a glass for hours.
