There are still societies, there are still governments, soldiers, and people who exploit one another. The story in Eden--in this volume at least--begins with two teenagers, Enoah and Hannah, as they care for their guardian Layne, who's dying of a disease that hardens the skin and turns the insides of a human to mush. Suite à un violent affrontement contre le Propater ayant coûté la vie à Wycliffe et à Cachua, le petit groupe mené par Nazarbaïev Khan parvient enfin à rejoindre Tony Eyemore, le bras-droit du père d'Elijah Ballard. I liked how the manga didn't gave completely the reason to any of the bands involved, so we are talking about a mature story and with a true gray morality. I’m no expert on the form so I can’t say how Endo stacks up against the greats as an artist, but I’ve got to admit that his attention to detail, no matter how gruesome it can be at times, is unmatched in my book.

The series is translated into English by Dark Horse Manga, who published volumes biannually due to low sales. next to the advert for “Calvan Klein” that Elijah is admiring, a poster for it suddenly grabs my eyes. Set in a post apocalyptic world in the near future where a virus has wiped out a substantial portion of the population, resulting in the collapse of civilisation and new authorities arising from it's remains.

What will happen if this keeps up — “this” being carbon increasingly emitted into the sky, oil released into the sea, superviruses mutated beyond our control, you name it — and what might the world look like afterwards? Well, it was supposed that it was to show her "karma" during the arc in which her unacknowledged daughter kidnapped her, however, the interaction that she had with the daughter was really poor, it didn't show if she had or not some kind of remorse and regret for what was going on, this was wasted potential for a character development. Sophia lived through her entire childhood without any help for her continued self-harm and multiple suicide attempts.

Celui-ci tue Mana sous le regard impuissant d'Elijah, qui sombre momentanément dans la drogue avant d'être récupéré par Miriam Arona. Yeah, the popular titles may have been good once, but they got popular and now their publisher will make sure they continue long after the mangaka has lost interest.
