About this deal

Once they kick in they start to smell like the floral arrangement in the heart of L'air du Temps as well as Arpege. Finally I want to say that this fragrance is suitable for any time of the year, any time of day or night. If you do not update your preferences, we will assume that you are happy to receive amazing offers and news. L'Aimant has that same powderiness, which I suppose is the aldehydes, but the rose and jasmine seem to dominate in my nose, with a warm,, silky musk underneath. Another example of how lack of marketing pushes an absolutely amazing perfume down to the low, understated pit where Gabreilla Sabatini, Ungaro Diva and many others also live.

L'Aimant Creamy Skin Perfume is based in sandalwood, musk, vetiver, vanilla, tonka bean, and some cedar. Not much sillage or lasting power, which allows me to reapply without blasting anyone in the near vicinity. It has great sillage and the dry-down is gorgeous, I get a bit of spice that the refined Chanel No5 doesn't have. So, although she was furious with Francois Coty, (a one time pal), Coco Chanel ended up laughing, all the way to the bank, literally! Yes, by the far drydown, it had taken on a creamy, almost dreamy aspect, with the florals still prickling with spice and mired in civet.

Younger noses may not appreciate her, but she's the mother of comfort and safety for many, myself included. It is not powdery or cheap smelling at all, it's a very peach/vanilla/sandalwood/incense oriental in the vein of Shalimar and Chanel Coco that is absolutely intoxicating, and it lasts for an eternity. To me it doesn't smell as much like anything from Chanel (maybe that reflects the number of reformulations and iterations No.

The big sister doesn't have this strange dry down, that remains sparkling, flowery with a hint of powder even after long hours. Thanks for all the feedback and stories :-) NebraskaLovesScent, your Instagram is GREAT and I'm waving a huge hello to you my friend! L'Aimant is classy, sweet, pretty and although normally I prefer Orientals and deeper statement fragrances, it's just as much a statement to wear softer fragrances like this one. For in telling the story of her burgeoning interest in fragrance - of how she fell down the rabbit hole, as we might say - Alyssa is also articulating the stories of so many of us. It arrived today, looking quite familiar in its deep pink and gold box, enclosing a glossy black bottle.

I do, however, like to imagine the 50s through furniture - I own a cabinet from that period which once belonged to the someone's granny in Bootle - I love to imagine where it has been and what it has "seen". The Stranger in the Mirror' by Jane Shilling - a poignant and funny memoir about encroaching middle age - was a book which had that effect on me lately. Ever since Great Aunt Agatha popped her clogs of decidedly unnatural causes - unless you regard strychnine as a natural tonic that is - suspicion has swirled around the village.

So, given my keen enjoyment of this book, you may be surprised to learn that it has taken me at least six months to finish it. Its floral heart was tight and seamlessly blended, giving the shape rather than the distinct fragrance of jasmine, ylang ylang, carnations, and other flowers I can’t suss out.To enable personalised advertising (like interest-based ads), we may share your data with our marketing and advertising partners using cookies and other technologies. I do think most people would get an "old lady" or dated impression from this but if you appreciate vintage scents you'll probably enjoy this. Nowadays we must value aldehydes, perfume notes we need in pandemic times as much as the warm and cosy notes.

In today's context, this fragrance is old school and mature but if you like vintage aldehyde florals this should be your cup of tea. Ombre Rose (I may owe a scented letter on that one) is quite a find, though more difficult to locate these days, but Buddha’s Fig, that’s one I’ve noted down for another day.Attars I’m all for and have quite a few that smell every bit as good as rather heavy proced ‘exclusive’ perfumes, but I often wonder in these cases just who’s copying who? It's funny how the affordable perfumes often have the most beautiful, intricate bottle designs (L'Air du Temps and Ungaro Diva are also some good examples of that), while the high end perfumes usually come in the most basic, boring square bottles that just look like the brand really couldn't be bothered. Since then, Alyssa has gone on to clock up guest writing credits on PST, NST and in magazines such as Marie Claire. I happen to love fragrances like that because it matches up with my white skin while in the bath tub and this fragrance being older provides it with better projection. This is heavenly florals, soapy sweet clean delicious aldehydic citrus and peach, vanilla beans and woodsy notes.
