Regan Antigone, the only trooper of the Procell 1st Irregulars who survived, swore an oath to Cypher not to reveal his presence, taking the credit for Cypher's actions. Decades later, 6th Company Master Tigrane learned the truth from now-Colonel Antigone at a social function. Master Tigrane declared Colonel Antigone a traitor for associating with Cypher and summarily executed him [4]. Three hundred years ago a worker on Mars dies as he makes a component for an electro-switch, thereby introducing a minor flaw in the switch. Now, in the Dark Cells of Terra a power-spike floods the switch and all electrical systems in the Dark Cells fail, thus allowing Cypher to escape (Chapter 5). Did Cypher know about this flaw?

For instance, there is the situation of a young man killed by falling debris, while honouring his dead father, who died in the same way, in the exact same spot, years ago. The book reveals later that both incidents were not coincidences but planned by the assassinorum. Cypher's original jailers on Terra are also now in pursuit of the Fallen Angel following his escape from his Imperial Palace cell in the form of a combined Adeptus Custodes and Sisters of Silence force under the command of the Shield-Captain Daryth. Whether Cypher employs meticulous planning or some Warp-born ability to shift the odds, it is often one of the Unforgiven Chapters that is sent to quell the worst of these rebellions. At times, they have uncovered Chaos Cultists or some machination of the Alpha Legion running like an undercurrent beneath the agitator's message. In several instances, such as during the Nova Terra Interregnum, there were one or more Fallen amidst the rising anarchy. Only by following the trail of Cypher did the Unforgiven find and capture the guilty –- but at other times he seemed determined to aid the Fallen to escape. It is the Dark Angels' belief that Cypher is an expert at manipulating others into his schemes. Some serve as bodyguards and are willing to lay down their lives for Cypher. Others, however, would be appalled to realise whom they have aided, and have been duped by an erstwhile ally who is not all he seems.

Its as if an author was the MC, writing their way to victory. Herakkon should have had the ability to instigate an emergency recall of key Custodes or have been able to lean on further Imperial Institutions. Ancia at his side, Herakkon would not have gone down, and have been in full position to deny Cipher at the end (yet without dying, would not have had the insight to make the decision he did). Begin run n' gun hide and seek chase. Through a whole bunch of otherwise innocent Imperial Citizens. Both groups do strikes to feint and misdirect. I actually give the Dark Angels the edge in Imperial Citizen killcount and damage by far.

At this point, if the Fallen were not Tzeentchian ploys, and by extension, the Dark Angels, I would not be surprised.

It is obvious to those few Dark Angels Librarians who have studied the compiled data that Cypher's actions seem to follow some pattern or mission known only to himself. It is not even possible to deduce whether Cypher is for or against the Imperium, an ally or enemy to those who betrayed the Dark Angels.
