About this deal

Most digital monitors have a DVI-D connector, while monitors which support both digital and analog signals usually have a DVI-D and VGA connector. DVI is limited to the RGB color model while HDMI also supports YCbCr 4:4:4 and YCbCr 4:2:2 color spaces, which are generally not used for computer graphics. The card is not the issue (X1300) as it also has a DVI output, which I have used the VGA adapter on and again it gives no display on the monitor, and it is not the VGA adapater that's the problem because I've used different ones and they all give no display.

DVI-I to VGA/HDMI Converter Possible? - EEVblog Home Made DVI-I to VGA/HDMI Converter Possible? - EEVblog

i've assembled my diy dvi to hdmi cable, this is the best i can do (pictures), the hdmi cable i used seems like the cheapo one since data shields and any grounds are connected to one single wire (chassis), so i have to connect all DVI shields into one and connect to there. Do remember that only DVI-I supports both analog and digital, DVI-D only works with digital, so you’ll need an active adapter to convert that to another type of connector.DVI does not use packetization, but rather transmits the pixel data as if it were a rasterized analog video signal. As soon as you convert between them, the quality will reduce from whatever the source was to a maximum to 1024x768. I'm a technology columnist and blogger with over 10 years of experience, currently serving as Blue Cine Tech's AV Editor. There are three types of DVI ports: DVI-I, DVI-D, and DVI-A, and it’s important not to confuse them because they’re not backward compatible. DVI-D single link has the same bandwidth as DVI-I single link, so the maximum resolution is the same at 1920×1200 at 60 Hz.

How to Convert DVI to VGA or VGA to DVI - Lifewire

The analog section of the DVI specification document is brief and points to other specifications like VESA VSIS [16] for electrical characteristics and GTFS for timing information. DVI connectors come in three distinct types: DVI-A (analog), DVI-D (digital) and DVI-I (integrated; analog and digital). HDMI is a newer digital audio/video interface developed and promoted by the consumer electronics industry.there some sort of ghosting, thin horizontal brighter line projecting from each windows edge (i cant get it in camera) but for me its not so serious. It requires a DVI-I or DVI-A output to get the analog signal to a VGA input (even if the adapter looks like a DVI-D). The signals sent by the port are different from VGA and we need a convertor for connecting a VGA monitor to DVI-A port.

DVI vs VGA: Which is Better DVI or VGA? - Blue Cine Tech DVI vs VGA: Which is Better DVI or VGA? - Blue Cine Tech

With so many technical specifications and acronyms, our goal is simple-to help you understand all there is about tech without making it difficult or daunting. Most analog connectors, such as VGA, require active adapters to convert to HDMI, but you don’t need that with DVI.Due to VGA being the dominant connector for analog monitors and DVI as a standard for digital signals, DVI-A connectors are quite rare; instead, DVI-I and DVI-D connectors are more common. It is not whether a certain conversion is possible/envisioned but that some dongles that do this are poorly designed.
