About this deal

I'm still running my original 4-20 from over 20 years ago and it has cast, no lie, over a ton of lead alloy for me with not a single malfunction. I haven't gotten into casting my own yet, but I've been collecting parts and pieces, especially lead. Once the vessel has cooled, put in a trash bag and place it with your outdoor garbage, or in a dumpster where it can be collected with other trash.

While I do have a lot of experience melting lead either just to reclaim scrap picked up at the range, or, casting bullets and fishing sinkers, I have more modern equipment to do that. New: A brand-new, unused, unopened and undamaged item in original retail packaging (where packaging . Everything else mentioned I have done with mine and would encourage you to do the same if you get one.My only lead right now is a few small wheel weights but I am wondering why not to use them, and if anyone has used them? If you somehow, in humid environs, collected moisture down under the lead, there could be a very slight chance of it not being able to escape as it turns to steam, and then exploding. Lee Precision primarily produces equipment for ammunition reloading, but their lead melting pots and accessories have been the standard for pouring fishing lure and weights decades. Load one, pour while the other is melting and load molds in between makes a pretty efficient system. Users should be aware of the health risks associated with lead exposure, including birth defects and cancer.

The melting point of lead is 621 °F (327 °C), so you’ll need a powerful yet safe heat source to do the job.I'm thinking of going with the 10lb 110v lee, but I am wondering if I should go with the 220v as I do not own a propane torch to melt it faster with. i use the pans off pressure cookers you can get a fair bit of lead in them ive usually got two on the go at a time also use two ladles one for scraping the slag off and the other for pouring the lead with.

If you do not require the tilting mechanism on the melting pot, then our Type TE might be right for you. This compensates for any material lost due to impurities, or from lead getting stuck to your container or tools. I only bought a second Lee 4-20 as a backup, figured my first one will quit sooner or later but it's still going strong. I feel anything smaller than a 20 pound pot is wasting my time as you are constantly adding lead and waiting for the lead to come up to temperature and you then have to warm up the mold also before getting back to casting. Some friends are borrowing my cannonball molds 1-16oz right now, and paying back with 20-24oz cannon balls. Continue stirring for another 1-2 minutes until the smoke and flames die down, then use your slotted spoon to remove the skim the dross off the surface of the molten lead. I have no idea how real the threat is, but my pot came with a warning not to leave lead in it because apparently air bubbles can somehow form when the lead is cooling and when heating back up can expand and splatter lead in a very rude manner.
