About this deal

Budget inflatable kayaks don’t really need to hit high PSIs, as long as they are sufficiently filled to be rigid.

Every Outdoormaster pump has a 1-year warranty. If anything goes wrong (which I doubt), you are covered for a year. After the pump has reached the PSI you initially set, it automatically turns off which is a great feature. Along with the battery, this pump can go to a maximum 22 PSI. This means the pump will easily inflate high-performance paddleboards, like touring or race SUPs. So if you’re a keen paddleboarder with a top-spec board, then this pump is probably the one for you. Durability and water resistance are essential considerations for any pump, and the Tuomico Rechargeable Pump doesn’t disappoint. It’s designed to withstand splashes and drops using its high-quality, waterproof materials. It even comes with a one-year warranty for added peace of mind. What I LikeRechargeable electric pumps are usually more portable than standard electric ones. But they will need to be recharged eventually, so they might not be the best options for kayak camping or very remote launching (unless you have a portable battery). This can be an ideal kayak pump for taking with you on multi-day kayaking adventures, as it requires no electricity. It’s also compact and lightweight, with folding feet, so it shouldn’t be too cumbersome to store on your kayak. The handle breaks down for storage as well. One of the biggest questions to ask yourself when choosing a kayak pump is whether you want an electric one or a manual one. PSI refers to the amount of pressure inside the chamber. This means a pump has to have power enough to pump in air even under pressure, creating more and more pressure until it reaches the right PSI.

I hope I’ve made it pretty clear throughout this review that electric SUP pumps are incredibly easy to use. Even so, the 2 main things I’ve learnt from using an electric sup pump are as follows: If there’s one thing that can ruin a lovely day at the beach, it’s noise. And not just noisy children or boat motors, but also an electric pump motor working away. Versatile and compatible: The Shark II comes with a full set of nozzles that can fit almost any iSUP. Standing about 1m away from the pump, in high-pressure mode (the noisy mode) the pump recorded 71 decibels, which is about the same as a washing machine. This wasn’t the quietest on the test, but not the loudest either. The pump has small rubber feet that will try to absorb some shaking and noise, but I’m not sure how effective they are. From personal experience, this pump works impressively well for inflatable kayaks. In less than 10 minutes, it inflated my kayak without any leaks or problems. The pump was quiet and smooth, and the pressure gauge proved to be accurate and helpful. What I Like Manual pumps can be either hand pumps or foot pumps. Foot pumps for inflatable kayaks are generally not as easy to find as hand pumps. The small size comes with compromises though, specifically, that it does not have active cooling, nor a deflation feature. And of course, it does not have a built-in battery either. Finally, because it draws up to 20 Amps, you can’t connect it to your car’s 12 V outlet. You have to connect it directly to a battery via the included alligator clips. The manufacturer does claim that you should let it rest for 10 minutes after 30 minutes of pumping if the temperature is above 90F out.
