About this deal

You can then choose which finance term you'd like to apply for, and change your deposit if you wish. Being able to discern the subtlest differences in pitch, timbre and tone helps you to get it right every mix, every take, every performance. With a very strong upper mid range…the low bass and extreme high end are certainly present…their comfort and punchy sound should make them very useful in a tracking situation, as all rounders for the studio, they definitely deserve consideration. Each model is best suited to different tasks, but the added comfort and overall fidelity of the KNS 8402 make it our preferred choice. These phones appear to be structurally similar to the KNS 8400, which was designed for pro studio use and abuse.

From the makers of one of the world's best selling ranges of monitors, the KRK KNS 8400 headphones are designed for prolonged professional studio use and are unlike other headphones in that KRK have deliberately voiced them in such a way that you get more of the "open" sound of a pair of monitors and less of the unnatural "closeness" that often clouds the judgement of engineers mixing on headphones. Hello all - I'm fairly new here and wanted to post some thoughts about the new KRK KNS 8402 headphones, which have received very little coverage here. The KRK's are also slightly more detailed than my 7506's as well, particularly in that I'm noticing more flaws in recordings than I did before. If you’ve ever felt a need for a clear, crisp and virtually distortion-free reference of your mix — don’t look any further. These things are as comfortable as my old Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro's, which were the most comfortable headphone I've used. This closed-back around-the-ear design brings you closer to your music, and the highly isolated surround pads give you the freedom to immerse yourself in the sound without having your monitor mix "escape" into open microphones—and keeps live instruments out of what you are monitoring. The cups are very soft, and I have no issue wearing these for any length of time (which is great for those late night mixing sessions). The treble of the 8402's sounds fine to me, but sometimes I find the phones a bit fatiguing after an hour of so of use.

I had to give up previous headphones because factory replacements were not available (or in the case of the NAD, the factory replacement turned out to sound quite different from the original pad) and I don't like treating headphones as disposable items. Along with the accurate bass, all other levels (mids, highs) are very well and evenly represented too. Like the other reviewer noted, I would've preferred a coiled cable by default (the provided cable has sufficient length, but because of that it is easily tangled). Listeners with smaller heads might perceive a couple of dB’s more bass, and/or varied response of 2 – 5 kHz range depending on headphone position on the head. For instance, I often find that it's harder to hear when things are out of tune on headphones than it is on speakers, but this was not the case with these headphones. They use a robust, sliding metal headband design, and the ear cups rotate (up to 90 degrees) and pivot. Accurate, durable, comfortable and cost-effective, famed for their studio monitor ranges, KRK have produced a respectable pair of closed-back, circumaural studio headphones that provide all the levels you'll ever need with a maximum SPL of 122 dB, all while remaining clear and detailed sounding, with very low distortion.
