Arrow has reissued their excellent two-disc RoboCop set on 4K, even going so far as to source new 4K scans of the trims that were added back in for the Director’s Cut (and originally taken out to avoid an X rating). The video quality is the best it can be, I feel, as there is still some film grain in there to keep the details and the right amount of dolby smoothing to make it look more crisp. The theatrical cut that I grew up with is also accompanied here by the directors cut that I didn’t get to watch until many years after it’s release.

Director Paul Verhoeven hadn't really made his mark in Hollywood, and took a bit of persuading to do the movie, with neither him nor his cast of misfits really certain as to what would become of it, turning in a modestly-budgeted and extremely taut 103 minute thriller which would end up being one of the greatest movies of all time. More Man Than Machine: Composing Robocop (12:08, HD) – A tribute to composer Basil Poledouris featuring film music experts Jeff Bond, Lukas Kendall, Daniel Schweiger, and Robert Townson. Beyond those Limited Edition extras, the package itself is excellent and utterly comprehensive although - as is now standard for Arrow - there is a question mark over whether it offers anything that fans won't already have from their Arrow Blu-ray set (and what fans don't own that?

The usual suspects seem to be just as worked up over crime and the idea that the United States is going to hell as they were not only three years ago, but back in the 1980s too.
