Roberts is a prolific TV presenter, and Ancestors skilfully deploys the arts of screen storytelling: narrative pace, a sense of mysteries being unfolded. The reality of multiple, miserable, slow-death diseases is in the bones simply had to direct the trajectory of civilization.
