About this deal

When you would like to buy flares, it is important to know, how to use it. Flares have a tube shape with chemical materials inside. Components are varied, but usually they are based on strontium nitrate, potassium nitrate, or potassium perchlorate and mixed with a fuel such as charcoal, sulfur, sawdust, aluminium, magnesium or a suitable polymeric resin. Interesting is fact, that flares can burn at over 1000 degree. After set alight burning time of flares is quite long - about 1 minute. During that time flares emit bright strong light, smoke and shimmering sparks. Which looks very outstanding.

This depends on how far you sail offshore. It is recommended that if you sail… Inshore waters (i.e. up to 5 miles from land) you should have How to use: Do NOT use at night (you cannot see smoke at night!) The handheld version you use as you would the red hand held. The buoyant type you activate it and throw it overboard to the leeward side of the vessel, but in line of sight of your rescuer. Parachute flares are designed to provide a high-altitude, long-lasting signal. Hand-held distress flares emit a bright light to attract attention. Smoke flares create a dense, coloured smoke cloud to increase visibility. Even though smoke grenades are not like standard fireworks, they should not be held. Instead, it is best to place them on the ground as they can get quite hot whilst firing. or dropped overboard into the sea to give off huge plumes of colorful (generally orange or red) smoke.

A buoyant orange smoke signal is for daylight use only. The canister is opened and thrown into the water downwind of the vessel. It will produce orange smoke for about 3 minutes. It is most effective in good weather conditions. Within minutes, the boats are coming toward you and you breathe a sigh of relief; you know help is on its way. Commercialized in 1986, diketopyrrolopyrrole (DPP) dyes are used as colorants in car paints (such as the famous “Ferrari red”), optics technologies and other applications. For the purpose of signal smokes, Vojtech Pelikan and colleagues chose the DPP dye PR254, which has a brilliant red color and is less toxic than anthraquinone dyes. In experiments, the researchers showed that a PR254-containing pyrotechnic composition reached a yield of red-colored smoke of 51%, compared with only 48% for the usual anthraquinone dye. PR254 was also more thermally stable than the reference dye, which might allow it to be used in a less toxic heat-generating system, according to the researchers. Smoke flares/ coloured flares - coloured smoke flares are ideal to light up the sky, red smoke flares stand out. All our coloured flares are popular for events and celebrations. The red smoke of a flare on a roadway warns motorists to be cautious, but the anthraquinone dyes currently used to produce this smoke are thought to be harmful to human health. Now, researchers reporting in ACS Sustainable Chemistry & Engineering have identified a less toxic, “greener” alternative — an organic dye called pigment red 254 (PR254). It also forms a red-colored smoke cloud more effectively than current dyes, the researchers say.
