The Max takes the capsule in a slightly different direction with a significantly larger form factor, bigger and louder speakers, higher brightness, and more. If I push the projector nearer to the wall to make it brighter, it’s then actually to my eyes smaller than my tablet screen on my lap. That's more than enough for even the longest of movies and it leaves you with plenty of time for marathon gaming sessions. The sound is pretty good for it's size but I did find if I wanted to quietly enjoy watching something I struggled as I would need the volume up to mask the sound of the fan, which has always been I projector issue.
It is a fundamental physics issue with current technology, brightness for a given size and fan noise. In summary, the NEBULA Capsule Max is a highly versatile and convenient device that offers an immersive viewing experience. The Nebula Capsule Max is a compact projector that ticks most of the right boxes by offering decent picture quality, good sound quality and great ease of use.
Ok, so it’s not the brightest (no use during daylight, and needs a somewhat darkened room, draw the curtains), but gosh, the controls are just fine once you get used to them, and that literally only takes a few minutes of patience. Although I don’t share the overall negativity of the original post (and I somewhat enjoy owning the Capsule Max), I must admit the firmware and UX are pretty bad. Firstly the quality of the image is outstanding for the size of it and also the quality of the speaker is amazing.A projector zoom allows you to increase or decrease the size of the projected image without moving the projector. It offers all basic functions to navigate through the menus and set volume, but offers no direct access to input switching as that’s done via software. This is quite significant given the small size of the Capsule Max: obviously it doesn’t offer the same performance of larger, more expensive projectors, but it offers great performance for its size. However, it’s worth noting that due to Digital Rights Management (DRM) restrictions, some apps may need to be sideloaded or mirrored from another device. That also means that if you want to watch films when you’re outside, you’ll also need to wait for night.
