About this deal

The treble are extended well and sound sparkly. The treble are detailed and clear. The upper treble has good amount of sparkle and airiness. It has above average levels of crispness. The detail retrieval and clarity are above the average. The midrange are close to neutral with slightly bright tonality. The lower midrange has moderate bodies and sound clean with high levels of clarity. The upper midrange sound vividly with good balance of forwardness. It has high levels of transparency and detail midrange.

Man erhält eine Wiedergabequalität, die ihresgleichen sucht. Ich hätte nicht gedacht, dass man einen solchen Klanggenuss mit einem Handy erreichen kann. Spectre X targets the most challenging simulation problems, including advanced node designs with complex FinFET (and other) device models, and RC-dominated post-layout designs. It includes the following two technologies: To date, the Spectra X is the best solution for an external DAC and amplifier to use with my smartphone. Both the above designs were in the sweet spot of the Spectre X technology. Although Spectre X also provides performance gains on smaller and legacy node designs, these performance gains may be less compared to the gains shown above.Nextdrive Spectra - There is non-X version of the spectra that is also very good but has less refinement. Still a great buy at less than 75% the price of the X model. It is powered by the device and is usually small and unobtrusive. The Spectra X, I think, is the best implementation of the concept to date. It’s really, really good. Read the rest of the review to find out why. What is the Spectra X DAC? Spectre X provides performance and capacity that is much improved compared to Spectre APS, as shown below. In addition, it significantly simplifies the Spectre use model, thereby making the Spectre APS tuning options obsolete. If you have treble sensitive headphones, you’ll probably hear this very easily and more often than with a mid or bass centered headphone. It isn’t annoying. I rather enjoy it actually. It gives my ears something to grab now and then and keeps my attention off the flat response type of the tonality of the presentation as a whole. Never piercing or sibilant. Thankfully. Imaging

The midrange of the NextDrive Spectra X is pretty musical, dynamic and slightly warmish in its tonality and shows in general a good level of clarity and airiness. The vocal presentation is transparent and quite detailed for a DAC/AMP adaptor and product at this price range. Both male and female vocals do sound emotional and pretty intimate, with good level of clarity and fairly accurate presentation. At the rear surface of the main body is the lettering Designed by NextDrive and a label with some industrial certifications. The NextDrive Spectra X features the Sabre 9018Q2C Digital to Analog Converter of the company ESS Technology. The Sabre 9018Q2C is a 32-bit Stereo Mobile DAC with Headphone Amplifier & Output Switch with low power consumption The tonality on Spectra X2 are fairly neutral and articulated. It has well controlled and fast bass, refined yet smooth mids, and clear yet crisp treble compare to iPad mini 5 and iPhone 12. As usual I started testing with Sennheiser HD-650. Here, power was clean up to max volume. This was listenable and just a hair loud. Bass was good but no match remotely for any desktop product.

The Spectra X is essentially a DAC and amplifier unit that you plug into your phone’s USB-C, Micro-USB, or Lightning port (The Spectra X is available in all three configurations). It essentially bypasses your phone’s internal audio components (The DAC and Amplifier) which are usually inferior because in your phone the priority is not on enhancing sound quality but saving space. XtraSOUND technology is advertised by the company that should help to achieve lower distortion and noise floor. The treble are brighter and extended further on X2, both has similar tonality, but the ITM03 has more bodies, while he X2 are slightly clearer. The treble has more airiness and crisp on X2. The detail retrieval and clarity are slightly better on X2.

If the name Maktar doesn’t ring a bell to you, don’t worry, I was the same. On the other hand, NextDrive sounded much more familiar to me, and for good reason: we previously reviewed the Spectra and Spectra X, two superb dongle-DAC made for Android/PC and Mac users. Purity enthusiasts will go nuts for this. This is a fantastic stepping stone DAC for those with a good portable neutral setup or who want a very small DAC that can be used on the PC and a phone as well.I am able to boost up to about a +5dB before I start to hear distortions and feel them in my bassier models out yonder. For the price, that is a good response! But, I expect more weight and less physical slam factor, which raises up a fair deal as I slide that EQ bar up on the bassy end of the spectrum. Instruments such like violins, pianos or flutes do sound bright, lively and detailed, while hi-hats and cymbals in metal music do show a good level of extension and sparkle. That sense of balance does robs it of any intimacy, but then again, that might have been the point of the design. Some DAC’s have a very forward midrange that are great for midrange-centric headphones. Others are wider feeling with great balance. The latter being more in line with the Spectra X’s presentation. Zusammen mit dem Kopfhörer B&O Play H6 ergibt sich ein unglaublich sauberes, detailliertes und dichtes Klangerlebnis. Ein Freund sagte neulich "Das klingt ja wie live!". Er hat Recht. You can find detailed information about the Spectre X use model, the transition from Spectre APS to Spectre X, and the ADE Explorer GUI support for Spectre X in the Introducing Spectre X application note.

As is with the Android pairing, so too, can you pair it with a PC to be used as a primary home DAC. If you are on the go with a laptop and don’t want a large DAC sitting with you, this is a fantastic option for you. Loudness is typically an issue with DAC’s that offer no volume control except whatever the source app supports. Here, the amp is rated at 2Vrms and good for up to 600ohm headphones, which I find to be a massive stretch. The Spectra X is an adapter/dongle that is assembled from 3 main components, the USB Type-C or USB A connector, the low profile cable and the main body which is the heart of the device. Stand Alone External DAC - Excellent sound quality but bulky and requires charging. You may as well buy a stand-alone DAP (Digital Audio Player) This pair of IEMs are still fresh in my mind, and I was eager to hear how they sounded with the Spectra X. The first major difference I noticed was the bass response. The TC-01 usually has this punchy, rounded tonality, but with this DAC, the lows become a lot more subdued and natural. However, I thought it gained a much wider resonance than it originally had. The midrange here is still just as balanced, but with a much richer timbre, even if the depth isn’t as great as the bass. Being initially impressed with the highs, I was even more delighted to hear more of them with some added detail. Some of these details can appear a bit thin, but I prefer this than making the TC-01 sound darker than it should. The only difference I found in soundstage was the slight enhancement of height I got with it. I thought instruments sounded a lot more floaty in their positioning than usual, creating a more airy headspace. Two big challenges facinganalog simulation are the increasing process-node complexity, and the increasing complexity of analog designs. We have simulated our advanced-node 5G designs with the Spectre X simulator and it shows up to 7X run-time improvement, even when factoring in large amounts of parasitics in post-layout verification.
