You never know in these situations is how authors will handle them and I was highly impressed with the natural progression of their story. It is the latest title from Carian Cole an author I’ve read time and again,all her books infact that much I like her writing. Skylar had been looking after herself for years, she was sensible, sexually experienced and seemed all grown so I didn’t get that ’icky’ vibe to their relationship at all. Since Hawaii Film Partners had trouble getting the film distributed due to its small budget and its stars not being major movie stars, HFP formed Hawaii Film Partners Distribution and distributed the movie themselves. Because here I am, eighteen years old, still in high school, and married to a man I was never supposed to fall in love with. no, seriously, this is exactly what went through my mind during the majority of my reading it : I can’t do this with you anymore.Skylar is doing her best but life keeps kicking her down, and when she needs some medical care she can’t afford Jude comes up with a plan. I am all for books dealing with real issues, and adding clear warnings these issues are going to be dealt with and well represented, which they were, but she added SO MANY of them that I felt like I was reading a hypochondriacs' diary. Masha, using the distraction, grabs Brick's gun and shoots him in the back: he falls off the cliff, taking Bryan with him. With all due respect to every person who has ever dealt with any of these issues, and I know they are all corelated and can bring everything else to the mix.
It’s really none of my business, and I have no right to be feeling the jealousy boiling in my blood. The cover kinda creeps me out, honestly (especially once I learned their ages), but I was super curious about the concept, and I love a good marriage of convenience. But the age gap (18/34) only works if both parties are on solid ground, and this heroine is really not in a healthy place when they meet. Seeing the way that these two connect in the small moments that only capitalizes on their love story as a whole was superb. Feeling bad, the waitress Lani ( Tia Carrere) suggests Bryan take Masha on a romantic outing, to a secret beach encased by a tropical rainforest to make it up to her.It can feel the slow burn at times as well, as it does slowly build and it’s not like they are having sex from the first few chapters haha Yeah nope that doesn’t happen. Honestly, my only issue was that the dialogue was a bit stiff at times, but the romance more than made up for it. Learning about Skylar's story, what she had to suffer, like the people who should guard and care for her the most in life, I was terrified how a parent could have allowed such neglect, and for all with that I was not surprised why Jude offered to help her, knowing his background and how selfless he is . I went through so many feelings and emotions while reading this book, and I am going through even more now that I finished it.
