About this deal

No, it isn’t the best handheld GPS, but it is one of the easiest to use devices a beginner can get their hands on. I’ve used many satnav tools over the past 20+ years, and the eTrex 10 is my go-to when I need a simple, effective Garmin GPS that has good battery life, is durable and takes up very little storage space. Garmin eTrex 10 Review: The Round Up We look at both the navigational experience you get from the Garmin inReach mini 2 and also how to send both pre-set messages and text messages from the Garmin inReach mini 2.

In this walk and talk I am joined by two special guests, Amon and Antony from the Bullitt Group, who created the Motorola Defy satellite link. In a series of videos we look at a number of Outdoor GPS units and give a simple, practical guide on how each of them works and the navigational experience each of them gives. Introduction video After first planning a course on some free route planning software we transfer it to the Garmin Epix (Gen2) using the Garmin Connect App before following it.What is a GPS waypoint? It’s a marker you create as part of a route, or as a reference point on your journey. An introduction to the walk and talk with the Motorola Defy Satellite Link and the key features, as described by Antony, from the Bullitt Group - 00:00

A look at the Bullitt App, which is on the phone to work in conjunction with the Motorola Defy – Satellite Link - 07:20 Many thanks for joining us on the latest walk and talk with the Motorola Defy – Satellite Link - 15:57 This time I am heading out with the Garmin Oregon 700 Outdoor GPS unit and head up into the Cheviot Hills. The GPS position format is important. This setting must match the maps you’re using. Most important is the Map Datum, which is the coordinate format your GPS will use.

Wear and tear are always considerations when buying something like a GPS, but I’ve never seen the rubber seal fail and I’ve never replaced it. Hats off to Garmin. I think I’ve used it once in the whole time that I’ve owned this GPS. It’s not that the sunrise and sunset reports are inaccurate, simply that I have never needed this function. If it’s getting dark I go to sleep, if sunlight is prodding at my eyelids I wake up! Simple. I like to kid myself that the engineers and designers of this device invoked some kind of dark, technical magic to create an incredibly tough device the shrugs off everything nature and careless hikers throw at it. The reality is much simpler: Garmin have kept it small, rugged and simple.
