About this deal

Variable camshaft timing is used to increase engine torque in the low engine speed range and to increase power in the high engine speed range. I've read rough idles can happen because of a vacuum leak in the air pipe, I wonder if I have something like this, whether its connected to the breather and can cause unexpected acceleration close to stop. It looks like it tries not to shake like a BMW where as soon as you release the gas it immediately starts braking sharply with the engine. Got confused because the metal part just after the connector looks like the engine block, but it must be part of the solenoid.

She's noticed no issues with how her car was driving, and from what I can tell this is more of a bad gas mileage/decreased performance type of thing. How many solenoids are there and are the accessed from under the black cover on top of the engine block?

Another thing issue I have, not fixed by the exhaust solenoid is sometimes at close to idle RPMs when I give a little gas while driving, the car is jittery for a .

And it was the same - the existing one had one hole and the new (revised I supposed) had three holes. As part of the variable valve timing ( VVT) system, the camshaft adjuster solenoid is responsible for allowing oil to adequately flow through the VVT system upon it’s engagement. You're best off double checking the date on the part though, If it's of the revised design, may not be much point replacing. Mine makes an almost diesel like noise for less than a second on startup from cold and also has occasional hesitation when driving, So it sounds like a classic case. New: A brand-new, unused, unopened and undamaged item in original retail packaging (where packaging .

For the whole week it was fine, today started again having high revs on idle just on 1st gear at traffic lights or during low speeds.

It's a catch-22: you rarely see a valid CPS code because when the sensor dies (which is usually all at once, not gradually) the car shuts down before the code can be set. Obviously as its four months out of warranty they had zero interest in helping me rectify the problem. The engine will still run, but it will not be able to advance/retard the timing if the solenoid can no longer regulate the phaser. When releasing the gas, the engine does not accelerate for another 2-3 seconds like it did before and starts dropping speed after about 0. Daughter texted me her CEL (check engine light) came on while she was at college today she turned the key to ACC to charger her phone and the light came on.
